Celebrate Independence day or enjoy the time with your family and friends grilling at home, relaxing in the pool or a trip to the beach. The first priority is safety to avoid accidents or damages to your home.
Check out these three great tips to keep your family, guests, and your home safe:
Grill Safety Tips Clean grill and check hose lines on gas tanks for leaks. Position the grill at least 10 feet away from any structure and place on stable ground. Grill must always be attended. Never leave a gas or charcoal grill unattended. Store a bucket of sand or a box of baking soda nearby to extinguish grease fires.
Pool Safety Tips Maintain adequate chemical levels according to the industry standard. Check the circulation and filtration systems are in good working order. Show your guests the depth of the pool and point out the safety rules, such as no diving or playing near the drain. Designate someone to be on lifeguard duty whenever the pool is in use. Children must always be supervised by an adult. Obtain a CPR and first aid certificate.
Watch out for firework hazards Light fireworks in an open space away from garages, homes or trees that could easily catch fire. Never allow children to play with sparklers and fireworks. Only adults should handle matches and light fireworks. Do not attempt to relight a failed firework. Children must be supervised at all times. Store a bucket of water or a hose handy to extinguish fireworks as a precaution.
